Honor has officially introduced the Magic V5, its newest foldable smartphone, which the company claims is the slimmest in the segment—depending on color and design finish. The device debuted in China on Wednesday, with international rollout plans yet to be announced.
The Magic V5 measures just 8.8 mm in thickness for the Ivory White variant, narrowly undercutting the Oppo Find N5's 8.9 mm profile. The distinction applies specifically to the white version, which features a standard back panel. Other color options—Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown—feature thicker finishes made with fibre and vegan leather, measuring 9 mm.
In terms of weight, the device matches Vivo’s X Fold 5 at 217 grams. It incorporates Honor’s proprietary Super Steel Hinge, aimed at delivering both durability and a smooth folding mechanism.
The device includes a protruding camera bump, which detracts slightly from its slim design but houses powerful imaging hardware. It features a triple camera setup: a 50MP wide lens, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. Honor emphasizes a full photography suite with advanced image processing features.
Honor has integrated its smart assistant YOYO, designed to execute user commands such as creating presentations, retrieving data, booking rides, and sharing screens. This virtual agent supports various productivity and automation tasks using voice or touch commands. AI-based camera software enhances both image clarity and video output.
The phone’s internal screen spans 7.9 inches, while the outer display measures 6.43 inches. Both panels are 120Hz LTPO OLEDs, supporting high refresh rates and adaptive display features. Honor claims dual IP ratings for protection: IP58 for dust and IP59 for water.
Durability is further reinforced by a Carbon Fibre-Reinforced Inner Display Panel and an Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield for the cover screen, aiming to minimize wear in daily use.
The Magic V5 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Two configurations are available:
* 16GB RAM with 512GB internal storage powered by a 5,820mAh battery
* 16GB RAM with 1TB storage coupled with a 6,100mAh battery
These specifications position the device for multitasking and power efficiency, addressing both performance and longevity needs.
While China gets first access to the Magic V5, Honor has yet to confirm international launch dates or regional pricing. Indian availability remains uncertain.
